Dear Parents,
Hello. Just a reminder to call the office or send a note with your child if the usual way they are to go home changes. Children get confused with changed plans and tell me differently. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated. Your child's safety is my top priority. We had a library dedication two weeks ago for Mrs. Janet Gomez who taught here at Solomon for 33 years. We here at Solomon Elementary want to inspire your children to read. We gave each child little gifts such as a pencil, book eraser, google eye friend to help with reading, bookmark, and stickers. Please encourage your children to read. Children love to have someone read a book to them. Make reading time a priority at home. There are so many fun ways to read a book.
I am excited to work with you and, to help your child succeed in third grade this year. Gentle reminder.... we have testing on Friday's. If there are make-up tests to take, I have to give during the student's recesses. I have no other time to give them. I do not want them missing the daily lesson.
We are experiencing hot weather. Please send a water bottle with your child daily. This way they may drink water at their desks at their own convenience. We also have a cold-water fountain that automatically fills up their bottles. A healthy snack is allowed for the students to bring. Please don't send candy, soda, or gum.
After the first day, please read any important notes coming home. Please look through your child's binder. I have added several useful materials that your child will need to help with homework. There is also a "daily planner" that we will fill out together each day. Included will be lessons/work that we have completely each day with a check mark. The daily homework will also be listed so that you can help your little student learn organizational skills. Please initial the bottom of the day's column so I know you are aware of what we did, and for homework that is to be completed. On the far right of the planner for the week, your child will write down their spelling words for the week. Assessments will be on Fridays.
This website will be one of three ways of communicating with you. On this site, I will be posting homework assignments, important dates, or happenings. Also, I can be reached by calling the school number at 428-0477. I also have a school email account: brenda.hall@solomon.k12.az.us, and the Remind account. I will be sending an invite to you all to join the Remind website.
I will be in constant communication with you through phone calls home, notes, my school website, Remind account, or emails. I look forward to helping your little student have a successful and fun year:) With frequent communication, I feel we can do this together as a team for your child's academic success. So please, if you have questions or concerns, please get in touch with me by using one of the above options.
