Solomon School is schedule to resume August 5. Governor Ducey announced a new executive order regarding COVID-19 and education. Instead of issuing a new start date for in-person learning, he announced that Arizona schools and school districts will receive public health benchmarks for determining the safe return of in-person, teacher-led classroom learning. We expect to receive this data from state and county health and education agencies by August 7.

Our leadership team will review the executive order, and we will update our community on how it affects the district. Once we receive and analyze the public health benchmarks in August, we will develop an in-person learning recommendation to discuss with our Governing Board. Our goal is to get students back on our campus, because we know schools are the best place for learning. We also remain committed to providing safe learning and working environments for our students and staff. Also Doug Ducey's executive order mandates that all staff and students wear masks. If anyone has any questions you can call the office we are here Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 1:00. I have also attached a letter, Q&A sheet and our plan on reopening school. You can access these in the downloads tab at the top.

School Calendar for 2020-2021 school year is available under the downloads tab at the top of the page.

The regular school attendance of a child of school age is required by state law. Regular school attendance is essential for success in school; therefore, absences shall be excused only for necessary and important reasons. Such reasons include illness, bereavement, other family emergencies and observance of major religious holidays of the family's faith.

In the event of a necessary absence known in advance, the parent is expected to inform the school; if the absence is caused by emergency, such as illness, the parent is expected to telephone the school office. When a student returns to school following any absence, a note of explanation from parent is required.

Therefore, when a student is absent, it is necessary for the parent to call the school on or before the day of the absence in order to advise the school as to the reason for the absence. When it is impossible to call on the day of the absence, the school should be notified on the morning the student returns, in time for the student to obtain an admission slip prior to the student's first class. All Absences not verified will remain unexcused. For absences greater than one day in length, the school should be notified the day of the absence.
