Friday-Halloween costumes (NO MASKS OR FACEPAINT) or green and gold


HOMEWORK:
*spelling packet, vocabulary, current event due FRIDAY

We have testing on Friday's. If there are make-up tests to take, I have to give during the student's recesses. I have no other time to give them. I do not want them missing the daily lessons.

I offer afterschool tutoring Monday-Thursday for those who are in need.

Week 13
5th Grade – The Carp & The Hermit Thrush (MyView Week 13)
By the end of the week, students will:
Identify and compare key elements of two different genres (legend and drama).
Describe how characters respond to challenges and explain what these responses reveal about the theme of each story.
Compare and contrast how authors use structure, dialogue, and actions to express perseverance and wisdom.
Use text evidence to support their ideas in written and oral discussions.
Plan, draft, and revise a comparative written response explaining how both stories convey a similar message or life lesson.
Demonstrate understanding of vocabulary in context, using new words correctly in sentences.
📘 Culminating Task:
Write a short essay comparing The Carp and The Hermit Thrush, explaining how each character learns or shows perseverance.
4th Grade – Trombone Shorty (MyView Week 13)
By the end of the week, students will:
Identify the main idea and key details in a biography.
Explain the theme and author’s message about perseverance, talent, and hard work.
Describe character traits and motivations of Trombone Shorty using text evidence.
Use context clues to determine the meaning of new vocabulary words.
Plan, draft, and revise a personal narrative inspired by the story, describing a time they worked hard to achieve a goal.
Share and reflect on how real people’s stories can inspire others to follow their passions.
🎺 Culminating Task:
Write a personal narrative connecting your own experiences of learning or perseverance to Trombone Shorty’s journey.
