Week 6!
We will be starting our research projects this week!
HOMEWORK: spelling packet, vocabulary, current event due FRIDAY
We have testing on Friday's. If there are make-up tests to take, I have to give during the student's recesses. I have no other time to give them. I do not want them missing the daily lessons.

HOMEWORK is a BIG part of grades.
I offer afterschool tutoring Monday-Thursday for those who are in need.
5th grade
Reading:
By the end of Week 6, students will:
Accurately quote text to support ideas.
Identify theme and connect it to real life.
Analyze figurative language and structure.
Respond in writing to the Weekly Question with evidence.
Writing:
By the end of Week 6, students will have:
Chosen an animal topic.
Generated research questions.
Taken organized notes from at least one source.
Created a simple outline.
Drafted their introduction and 1–2 body paragraphs.
4th grade
Reading:
By the end of Week 6, 4th graders will:
Cite text details and examples to explain ideas.
Describe characters and events with evidence.
Determine a theme and support it with details.
Identify figurative language and its effect.
Respond in writing to the Weekly Question with evidence.
Writing:
By the end of Week 6, 4th graders will have:
Chosen an animal and written research questions.
Gathered and paraphrased notes from at least one source.
Created a clear outline.
Drafted an introduction and at least 2 body paragraphs with evidence.
